Cinco de Mayo Fiesta
Fiesta fun for our residents as they celebrate Cinco de Mayo!
Our homes welcomed family, friends and members of their local community to a Mexican-themed party to celebrate the Cinco de Mayo festival.
This vibrant Mexican holiday is all about embracing culture, having fun, and, of course, enjoying delicious food. On this special day, our residents and team commemorated the rich heritage and traditions of Mexico. This is part of our care home activities programme called Magic Moments, which aims to help residents enjoy every day, make memories and have a little fun.
Mexico is the first stop on the care home’s ‘Cruise Around the World’ armchair travel activity, which, throughout the year, will see residents at our Four Seasons Health Care/brighterkind care homes across the UK, experiencing the sights, sounds, tastes and culture of destinations they’ve always wanted to visit. The ship will also be docking at fondly remembered destinations, so residents can share their stories about their travels in the past and take a trip down memory lane.

Residents at The Granby Care Home had a wonderful afternoon celebrating Cinco de Mayo. Residents enjoyed a traditional Mexican performance whilst shaking their maracas, followed by traditional Mexican food.
St Catherines Care Home’s residents had a fantastic Mexican themed day with a DJ, the limbo and to top it all off they enjoyed lots of traditional Mexican food – including a nacho bar!
Residents at Lansdowne Care Home had lots of fun with traditional Mexican clothing, music, decorations and plenty of dancing.
Resident’s at Silver Springs Care Home enjoyed a steel band performance in the afternoon from their local school. This was followed by some chips and dips and margarita mocktails.
The Laurels Care Home’s residents enjoyed Mexico as their first stop on their cruise around the world. Residents loved celebrating Cinco de Mayo.
Residents at Hillside Lodge Care Home celebrated Cinco de Mayo in style with traditional Mexican clothing, food and mango flavoured mocktails. Resident Margy said the atmosphere was great.
Residents at Ashbourne Court Care Home had the most amazing day drinking and eating some traditional Mexican refreshments. They also made their own sombreros and maracas. Resident Margaret said she had the best day.
Cumbrae Lodge Care Home’s residents celebrated Cinco de Mayo with Mexican music, food and drank plenty of sangria! Resident John said “I absolutely loved the event as it reminded me of when I worked in Mexico!”
Residents at Lammermuir House Care Home enjoyed celebrating Cinco de Mayo by drining Mojitos, eating delicious tortilla chips with dips and having a go at the piñata!
